You know your tired when....

.... ... Your laying in bed with your child, get up, put them back to bed, go and pee, return to your own bed and jump and think 'omg where'd they go?!?' oooh that's right....

.... You think you've been to the toilet, but your not sure, and you can't remember and it takes more time and effort to work out if you actually feel like you need to pee than it would just take to go pee (again?)...

... You forget simple words, like 'you know, that thing, 'omg, you go through it.. DOOR!' (no I haven't, but I honestly can't remember any of the common words I've forgotten lately!

... You fully intend on being intimate with your spouse and then a moment later you
startle awake because they are tapping you on the shoulder.... :-)

... The opening scene from finding nemo makes your eyes well up even though you've seen it a BAZILLION times!!!

... In the middle of the night you reach out in a panic to catch your baby as they fall out if bed, only to realize you've caught your own pillow... And then a few nights later you nudge your pillow off the bed and it makes a disconcerting *thud -waahhhhhhh* sound...

... Or the time I checked the bassinet for 8 week old Jasper and asked DP where the baby was , who sits bolt upright in bed in instant panic I remembered he was in his cot. I wasn't worried, I knew I put him somewhere....

... You and your child fall asleep at 2pm and wake at 5pm and you lay awake trying to work out why if it's 5am why your not in your pajamas...

.... Or you say 'wow he slept through last night!!' only to be told no, actually he woke 3 times and I brought him to you, he breast fed, I put him back to bed... Meh... Didn't notice a thing. :-)

... Or you have to explain a black eye to concerned people and reassure them you really do sleep walk to fetch your baby out of the cot when it wakes and last night you walked face first into a half-open door. No really, most nights I have no memory of how he got from the cot to my bed!

*yawn*

That's all for now :)

Just a thought...

Why do delays seem to cascade?

Plane delayed. Meeting my brother dan at the train station and he was lost, then on a slow train. Meet up and walk around in circles trying to find the train. Get on a train. Then find out it was the wrong train. Get off that train, get on another train back to pretty much where wr started. Now we are waiting for 'the correct train.

I left home 6 hours ago and am yet to arrive at my destination.....

Just a thought...

You probably need the coffee if it takes you the time till you get to a seat to realize why the barrister at the train station coffee shop gives you a funny look when you specify you'd like a take away cup.... Oooooh it's a train station - they are ALL in take away cups.

My weekend away

Phone. Check. Wallet. Check. Asthma pump. *ugh heavy* check. Breast pump. Check. Baby... Baby...? Oh wait baby is at my inlaws house this weekend and I'm going away to Melbourne on my own.

So I've just landed. Things to report; checking with no baby, no luggage, no portacot, pram and carseat, no tears, it's AMAZING!

As is getting off the plane and not having to track down a trolley and head to baggage collection.

Just me, my back pack and my knitting.

Because the flight was delayed by 30 minutes after boarding I had about 2 hours to complete a very cute pink and white beanie, (which I'll upload a photo of as soon as I work out how ;) )

Now on my way to meet my brother at 'southern cross station' which I do and probably will forever refer to as 'spencer street station' (same as despite living in Sydney for 4 years I still call woolies Safeway :D )

Then off to my best friends engagement party.

Loving public transport without a toddler!!!

(missing him already though :( )

Heres some more

Now the pressure is off - no more 'first post' jitters, i'm not sure what to put in my blog as I don't know who I expect to read it, do I assume the only people who'll read will know me personally so don't need a back-story intro? Also do I overshare? A lot of people who know me personally don't know a lot about me anyway.

Ah well - brief (laughing - nothing with me is brief I'm very good at babbling) back story.

I'm a mum of a 21 month old toddler who as the title of my blog suggests isn't a big fan of sleep. Never has been. So this blog comes to you from nearly 2 years of severe sleep deprivation. Don't worry about offering me solutions if it's out there I've done it, tried it, read it, fed it... Done... Fail.... So I've moved into a new phase of parenting where I just accept that I will not sleep, I live off a diet of coffee and actually it's been so much easier releasing the attachment to sleep... Or at least that's what I'm telling myself!!!

As it stands bub has his cot against our bed side off and then me or daddy sleeps in the cot to make room in the bed for bubba!!

What else? I'm a child carer, worked in a nursery before having bub and since he was 6 months old I've worked in a couple of creches, done a few nanny jobs, but now just do casual baby sitting - all with Jasper in tow. I'm loving the flexibility of baby sitting! I got up to working 4 days a week but managed to stress myself 'cycless' iykwim ;) and we are planning another bub so that wasn't going to work!!!

See what I mean - oversharing!

Ah well when I'm pregnant I'm sure I'll be on here whinging that I've peed my pants or something so may as well start as I mean to continue!

Oh and nobody assume that because I care for babies that I know any more about them than anyone else. Honestly the more babies I work with the more I'm realizing ANYTHING is normal and what 'works' is whatever gets mummy and daddy from one day to the next.

Alright - someone smells and it's not me so I've got to go change a nappy!!!!

First blog post ever

Hi,

Yep I've got nothing interesting to start off with.

I suppose first things first I'm
posting from my iPhone (being a busy mum with a toddler I don't get onto the computer often) so I apologize for the typing errors and spelling mistakes - I'll try to routinely proof read on the laptop! Oh and my iPhone likes American spellings so your gonna have to deal with the additional 'z's it pops in.

Ugh alrighty! I've wanted to start a blog for the last two years and never did because I couldn't work out how to start it so... There it is.... This is how it's started! Yep two years of planning and that's the best I can do.

Enjoy! ;)
